Suggest Treatment For Anemia And Fatigue

I took my temperature a few minutes ago feeling completely fine (the doctor told me I should check throughout the day because I may have an iron deficiency/anemia caused by internal GI bleeding which I am currently testing for) and I just checked again and before it was 97.5 and now it s 98.8. I know neither of these are temperatures but when this happens, I feel it and feel a hot flash and get a feeling of fatigue that eventually just goes away on it s own. Any idea of what this is/ if it s bad?

Hello,

Fatigue may occur due to anemia or low hemoglobin levels. I suggest you to get a complete blood count (CBC) and a peripheral blood smear (PBS) examination to look for anemia and type of anemia.

In case, there is presence of anemia and microcytic hypochromic red blood cells on PBS, you need to get iron profile. In case of iron deficiency, iron supplements need to be started for atleast two months.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri
