General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Both are atrial rhythm disturbances.

During atrial flutter, atrial rate is 180 to 250 and during atrial fibrillation the rate is 250 to 350 in which the atria fibrillates so the blood inside the cavity becomes turbulent and the risk of clot formation increases.

Therefore, to prevent it Warfarin is advised. If a clot forms, it can circulate in systemic circulation and cause DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhadresh Lakhani
