Hi I am suffering from Ankylosing Spondylitis from the year 2004.Also I had iritis on few occasions.Right now I am being treated with the following medicines: 1 SAAz 1....1/2 2 Inmecin in case of pain. W.r.t. to Iritis I use to take the following medicines during the occurance: 1 Atropine 2 Diflucor 3 Inemecin Alongside i am suggested with some regular exercises. Please let me know if this treatment is suffice for controlling the Ankylosing Spondylitid or not. Also presently I am 31 years of age and will like to know if I have to undergo this treatment for my lifetime or not.
Hi Medications for treating AS would include NSAIDs like Inmecin which you are already taking. Additional drugs for pain and inflammation are the disease modifying group- methotrexate. Also available are the more recent biologic agents which block infammation like Humira. These have to be prescribed. Physical therapy to maintain range of motion of the large joints, breathing exercises, using flat mattress without pillows, postural adjustments while sitting and working are all important in avoiding deformities. In case the hip is damaged a joint replacement surgery will be useful
