Hello,

You are unable to maintain or sustain relationships. However, do not force your self into relationships or friendship if you are not prepared or if you are happy living a solo life. Forcing yourself will only burden and lead you to more stress. Give your self time so that you start seeing the positive side of a relationship, partner, friend or friendship. That is very important to keep away conflicts and withdrawal.

First sort out all your problems. Work problems or financial difficulties, difficulties with in-laws or extended family, etc. If you have some past pain that is troubling you, give yourself time to heal. Indulge in relationships only when you feel hungry for it. Abuse in the early years, people whose parents are divorced, or have other past life problems have been linked to relationship problems later in life.

You are suggested to consult a Counselor/Psychiatrist. Get talk therapy, group therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, exercises, etc., done. It will take some time but the problems will go away. Make new friends, keep yourself fit. Switch to healthy eating & healthy lifestyle. Maintain healthy weight.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
