Suggest Treatment For Anxiety And Depression While On Lexapro

I am on day 11 of Lexapro 10mg. I noticed after a couple of days that my anxiety was gone and depression was in control. Now my anxiety is back, and the depression is slowly creeping back in my life. I know that I am supposed to wait 4 to 6 weeks for full results, but I have an appointment with my therapist next week and wonder if I should consider an increase to 20 mg. Not sure really what to ask.

Hello thanks for choosing HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. Lexapro is Escitalopram and the drug is a SSRI group of anti-depressant and anti-anxiety drug. The drug is one of commonly used drug and the optimal doses of the drug are 10-15 mg per day. The drug has resulted significant improvement in your symptoms but in my opinion increasing the dose would not help much. The drug should be continued for long and even maintenance treatment should continue for 6-12 weeks following remission of symptoms. So I would advise you to continue to take the drug as per your prescription and I dont see any more benefit in increasing the dose to 20 mg because at these doses you would have side effects.

Thanks, Hope this helps you. Take care
