Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello,I had my first panick attack 11 years ago while driving on a highway and since then i have developed anxiety and panic disorders. Recently I lost my position in my company and since then I have had more severe attacks. I also suffer from performance and social anxieties. My wife read somewhere that aspirin may help reduce the symptoms of anxiety. Is that true or medically proven? Thank you for your support.Kind regards,Handi Kumulia
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand dour concern. You have recurrent panic attacks and these got aggravated after losing your position in company. Panic attacks are nothing but severe paroxysmal anxiety and treatment of anxiety results in improvement of symptoms of panic. Aspirin is an analgesic drug and it is not used in anxiety disorders, so I dont think that would help you in panic. For severe panic medicines like beta blockers as Propranolol, Atenolol can help. Low dose benzodiazepines are also useful in severe panic. Relaxation exercises, behaviour therapy, yoga, progressive muscle relaxation exercises are other non-medicinal treatments available. Please consult a psychiatrist for prescription and help.
Thanks, Hope this helps you. Takecare
