Hello thanks for choosing HCM for your health related queries
You have anxiety disorder and history of panic attacks. You have been taking Lexotan (Bromazepam) for last 10 years and then went to holiday and failed to get the drug. Now you have been advised to take Diazepam. Diazepam is working for you. Both Bromazepam and Diazepam are controlled substances and should be taken with proper prescription only. These drugs have high abuse potential and should not be taken regularly for more than 4 weeks unless strongly indicated. I would advise you to consult a psychiatrist near by to change the prescription. These drugs can help to reduce the symptoms of anxiety but can't treat the anxiety. Medicines especially SSRIs should be given to you to reduce anxiety. Doses of diazepam should be reduced gradually over 4-6 weeks and then should be stopped. Long term use of these drugs increase risk of cognitive impairment so I would advise you to take help of a psychiatrist for deaddiction.
Thanks, hope this helps you.
