Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi for a number of years I have had a small lump under my armpit, now and again it gets really big (like a boil) & if I squeeze it pus comes out but it is smelly, I'm not worried about the lump has I've had it a number of years but would really like to know how I can get rid of it.
As per your query you have lump in your armpit and now pus discharge starts from it . Well there can be many reasons for armpit lump :
- It could be a lipoma ( fat cell content mass lesion) because long standing and pain less, no significant growth.
- It could be cystic structure, also seen pain less and may remain for longer time.
- It could be a infected lymph node .
I would suggest you to consult general practitioner for proper examination . Doctor may order blood test and ultrasound to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may also order breast examination in case of female . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics ( amoxicillin ) for at least 10 days along with anti inflammatory drugs . Doctor may also order biopsy .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
