Suggest Treatment For Arthritis In My Right Knee

I have arthritis in my right knee.i got a shot the first week of May.Last 2 weeks have been having sharp pain under my knee and it really hurts when I stand and try to walk. I stubbed my toe about the same time the sharp pain started and I think I may have twisted my knee. pain has gotten worse. I have an appointment the 11th with my orthopedic dr. What can I do until then?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to arthritis. I suggest to use anti inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen 400 mg to relieve the pain. I also suggest using cold compresses for local application. I recommend to do an X-ray of the knee and rheumatoid factor level for further evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
