Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have problems with my feet now for more than 2 years. Right foot only having some pain in toe joints. Left foot same problem but additional problems. Last fall diagnosed with 3 stress fractures on top of my foot near the toes. Now Doctor says the MRI shows no more stress fractures but missing cartilage which he say means arthritis. Been taking GABAPENTIN for a couple of months but doesn't really seem to help. Doctor had said next step might be surgery. HELP?
Thank you for using Telemedicine via HealthcareMagic.com. I have gone through your case and I can understand your concern. Based on the details you have prescribed, it's postraumatic degenerative arthritis. I don't agree for Gabapentin, because it is a type of analgesics used mainly for neuropathic pain, i.e nerve pain caused by shingles. For inflammation and pain in postraumatic degenerative arthritis, prescriptions as NSAIDs-Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (ibuprofen, naproxen, etc) or prednisone shot in joint are very helpful. Please don't forget to give your valuable feedback and five star rating, to help me assist you in a better way. Click at 'I Find This Answer Helpful too'.
