Suggest Treatment For Arthritis

I've been advised I need a reversed shoulder replacement. I'm 77yrs and have arthritis. I had surgery last
Sept & my rotator-cuff is almost gone so they cleaned everything out & I felt Ok for awhile but now the
pain has gradually come back & is extreme when I lay down. What can you tell me about this kind of
surgery & images would be great.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
hi
Since rotator cuff is damaged it is advisable for reverse arthroplasty in which the mechanics of upper end of arm bone is recentered to the scapular end of joint and use of damaged rotators is obviated altogether.it is superior to conventional reconstructive arthroplasty of shoulder in which some reasonable function of rotators is necessary for success of mecahincs of upper end humerus. It is a salvage procedure in a way for irrepairable rotator cuff.
