Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I fractured my hip in 2000. It left Right leg shorter. Lift is put on shoe. I have arthritis and bone spurs in it. Its painful and weaker. Recently had an MRI and have a labral tear in this hip. Im 62 yrs old and it isn t getting better. Considering all this would a hip replacement be best for me?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
You can try for arthroscopic repair of labral tear first and check whether the pain subsides or not. If pain persist, then hip replacement will be the better option. Consult an orthopedic and he will direct you accordingly. As of now you can take analgesics, like Tramadol for pain relief.
Wishing you good health.
Thanks.
