Suggest Treatment For Aspiration Pneumonia

My mother went into hospital with aspiration pneumonia. She has been on ventilator more than once. Her vital signs are good and she s alert and knows what s going on. You can talk and have conversation. Problem is we are told she ll keep aspirating. I guess (1) can t get mucous out and (2) she s on a peg feeding tube. Food will get into her airways. Not sure if she has a reflux issue. Basically all that has been done for her is use ventilator and give antibiotics. The first time she got off ventilator whe was doing so good, but she was back in hospital in a week. Can t lay her fIlat, have to prop up. They recently took her off ventilator. We were told that basically family has to make a decision whether to put her back on if it happens again. They are trying to convince us not to. Question is? Can anything be done to help her? She s so full of life. Don t want to make that decision if we can help her.
