hi i am taking azathioprine 50mg three times daily with 25mg prednisolone twice a day..this treatment was for autoimmune hemolytic anemia...i take these medications for 3 weeks then the doctor start to tapering prednisolone to 20mg twice daily...but azathioprine still 50mg t.d.s ..for the next 2 weeks then will reduce also the prednisolone to 15mg twice daily...and still 50 mg azathioprine ... what you advice me
Hi I think your doctor is treating you in right manner. Azathioprine 50 mg will be prescribed for 3-6 mths depending upon your condition and then will be tapered off gradually to 25 mg and then further lowering. In addition you must take Folic acid to prevent megaloblastic anemia if not taking. You will be fine soon. Take Care
