Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have AVN of right hip as demonstrated by MRI. Possible early AVN of left hip. I have had it for 5 years but only now just received diagnosis. Doctors only kept ordering lumbar MRI until just recently finally ordered MRI of hips. Lots of pain and limping cannot do any activities nor walk more than 10minutes. I do not take any medications and would like to begin homeopathic treatment. I will answer further questions if you could help me. Thank you
Avascular necrosis of hip is diagnosed late in most of the cases. Various causes of AVN are: 1) Prolonged use of corticosteroid 2)trauma 3) Alcohol abuse 4) Hyperlipidemia 5) osteoporosis 6) Systemiclupus erythematosis 7) Bone disorders 8) Hemoglobinopathies
The following are the treatment modalities Medical management only in early AVN cases Bisphosphonates Iloprost Statin therapy Extra corporeal shockwave therapy Hyperbaric oxygen therapy Surgical management
Please do follow your orthopedic doctor instructions and undergo surgery if necessary. That will help you to walk better and relieve pain.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
