Suggest Treatment For Back Pain When On Tramadol

I have been prescribed Tramadol from my orthopedic Dr. and started out taking only when I was hurting bad from back pain even though the recommended dosage was every 5-6 hours. I didn t have a problem until the last two weeks I went up to the Dr. recommended dosage because of the weather and bad pain. I do not like taking meds like this but found it did help me when the weather was bad. Now I think I am having withdrawals because I do NOT want to take them like that and thinking of stopping all together. How should I wean myself off of these awful addictive pills safely? My withdrawal symptoms are terrible. I cut back to 2 a day for now.

Hello,

You have backpain and are on tramadol. You want to stop taking tramadol as it is addictive. Include anti inflammatory food in your regular diet. You can also apply pain relieving sprays. Gentle massage with pain relieving ointment will be of much help. The best way to avoid tramadol withdrawal is to taper tramadol use over time. Opioids like tramadol have a general tapering method to slowly get it out of your body.

The safe way to taper includes a 10% reduction in dosage every week and then a 20% reduction every 3 to 5 days. In general, withdrawal starts a few short hours after your last dose of tramadol has worn off. The first 72 hours are always the hardest. However, it can take several days to weeks before all symptoms of withdrawal are no longer present. In some cases, rebound symptoms may occur.

Agitation and depression or any unusual changes in your behavior can occur to manage it, you can either get connected to a detox center or to a GP. You are suggested to stay at home and make sure you can get a lot of rest. Take lots of fluids and a bland diet so your body can detox and heal while you’re going through withdrawal. Heating pads can be of help to get relieve from aches and pain. Have patience and get successfully weaned of tramadol.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
