Suggest Treatment For Back Pain While Treating Osteoporosis
Yes - I have been recently diagnosed with osteoporosis - severe. I have had no fractures - this was found by a bone scan. Dr. wanted immediately to put me on Prolia but so far I have resisted. I am taking Bone Up a mix of vitamins and minerals, Vit K, D3. I am considering taking a round of Meloxicam to see if that will help the back pain I am having. Have you known it to be useful for osteoporosis?
First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, the most useful intervention could have been intravenous bisphosphonates however oral alternative may be used.
Meanwhile, all the supplements you mentioned can be continued alongside. Meloxicam however has no role in slowing disease progress but to control pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
