Suggest Treatment For Bacterial Infection In Vagina
I have contracted the bacteria klepsiella pneumoniae in my vagina. My Gyny informed me that this bacteria is not suppose to grow in the vagina and only in lungs. He also informed me that I contracted the bacteria through penetration. I basically use vaginal cream everyday and sometimes I can smell a nasty smell, although in my eyes I am very hygienic. Can this bacteria cause any serious problems I am 65 years of age. Thank you Mrs Lubbe

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
The K pneumonae can cause, vaginal infection by person to person contact. Selection of suitable bacteria treatment in sufficient doses are efficient in cure. Mostly culture and sensitivity test of vaginal discharge helps in confirmation of infection as well as selection of antibiotic. Please consult your gynecologist.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
