Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I am having a problem. I noticed that I have recently had a vaginal odor as well as a thick white discharge. I thought it was a yeast infection but I was tested for that, pregnancy, and all STDs and everything came up negative. I was curious as to if these problems can be caused by my heart medication, atenolol. If so how can I fix this?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern... According to your symptoms, Your must have normal vaginal discharge. It is a slight viscous liquid produced by vagina which prevents colonization of bacteria & thus prevents infection. It also helps in self lubrication of vagina. Vaginal discharge increases when women becomes sexually active.
However according to my knowledge this should not have any relation with the medications you are taking. The colour of vaginal discharge should ranges from clear white to slight yellowish in colour. It should have normal odour like other body fluids. Problem is suspected if vaginal discharge is awful in smell & is accompanied by vaginal itching.
Also you have undergone tests for STD, infection , etc. So there is nothing to worry. So everything is suggestive of normal vaginal discharge in you.
Hope this information helps
