Suggest Treatment For Balanoposthitis

I am 59 and I have been having a balanoposthitis for several years now. It comes and goes but never goes away completely. Could be improvement (almost gone) for a week or two but then it always coming back for 2-3 weeks... Then the cycle repeats. Which doctor should I see - dermatologist (I had one but for other issue) or urologist? Vic

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM
I have gone through your query. Recurrent fungal infections can be the reason. Keep the genital area clean and dry. Avoid excess washing also. Avoid soaps and irritants and just use warm water for washing. Using anti fungal creams like miconazole for local application for 2 to 4 weeks will be helpful. I would also suggest taking oral anti fungal agents like Fluconazole weekly once for 1 month to stop recurrence. If no improvement then you can consult a General surgeon or urologist as in that case circumcision will be needed.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
