Suggest Treatment For Bald Spot On Scalp

my niece age 25 has a bald spot size of a quarter on her scalp. She went to her doctor and they are considering alopecia as a diagnosis. She is an extremely healthy young woman who works out, is a fanatic about her diet and has long thick hair. I don t believe there is any one in the family with this history. Is there anything that she can do regarding diet that can help her condition? She was given a topical steroid for treatment. Does a blood test confirm diagnosis? email: YYYY@YYYY

Hi and welcome to HCM,
Alopecia, otherwise, a medical term for baldness. It is important to know the cause for the baldness and then treat the cause. Along with the steroid ointment, she can also include a antifungal ointm, ent, and I am sure she will be fine. Blood test will give her general state of well being and help rule out anemia, serum iron etc.
A well balanced healthy diet is advised.
All the best !!!
