Hi,I am Dr. Robert Galamaga (Hematologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m Laxmi, 28yrs old. Married and have one child (boy, 1 1/2 yrs).
I have been diagnosed and found HBsAG positive. During my pregnancy I came to know that I am HBsAG positive. My husband is HBsAG negative, even my father and my siblings are negative.
I would like to know more details and precautions for this.
My dear friend, its very nice that your sibling and your husband is HBsAG negative. Now you need to further evaluate to rule out that it is active or inactive by doing further blood test including SGPT , SGOT and Hepatitis B viral markers - HBeAG and anti HBe.
You need regular and proper follow up by every 6-12 months intervals with transaminases, as fluctuations in ALT and HBV DNA levels are common during the course of chronic HBV infection.
Until reports come, no treatment is required and further management will according to your investigation reports.

Protected intercourse should be practised until partner has developed protective antibodies. Eventual offspring needs active and passive vaccination. Avoid alcohol. Keep in touch. Thanx.
