Hello,

You are suffering from black bruise on lower leg and ankle. You also have swelling on the ankles and legs. Bruises develop from damage to blood vessels under the skin. This damage causes the blood vessels to leak blood, leading to discoloration of the skin. For relief and to get rid of blood clots under the skin you can apply Ointment Thrombophob on the affected area.

Unexplained bruising on the legs occur commonly due to injury, age, taking certain medications, an underlying health condition, etc. In adults thinning of the skin may cause bruises, even a small bump can cause a bruise. Vitamin deficiencies like vitamin K and vitamin C, bleeding disorders, such as hemophilia and von Willebrand disease, liver disease, kidney disease, water retention, leukemia or multiple myeloma may cause easy bruising and edema of the ankle and leg.

Applying ice packs and warm compress will help to ease out discomfort. Take diet rich in vitamin C and K. Rest is the easiest treatment for bruises on legs. By resting the body part and keeping it elevated, can help decrease blood flow and speed up the healing process, as well as improve the discoloration of the bruise. Get clinically examined by a GP, get blood tests, investigations and diagnosis done so that treatment of the cause can be done at the earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello,

I recommend consulting with your attending physician for a physical exam and performing a Doppler ultrasound of the leg vessels in order to exclude possible deep vein thrombosis or peripheral arteriopathy.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
