Suggest Treatment For Black Stool After Aortic Valve Replacement Indicate

my dad had heart surgery aug 6. he had aortic valve replaced and part of his aorta replaced with man made material due to an aneurism they cut out. a week ago he started having black stool. he has been in hospital for nine days now and they can not find the bleed. upper and lower gi has been done as well as colonoscopy, enteroscopy, cts, and imagining tests. he still has an active bleed but can not find it. where else could the bleed be coming from? could it be coming from the heart repairs?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is important to characterize the anemia, e.g. an endovascular prosthesis can damage the red blood cells and lead to hemolytic anemia.

Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Anders Mark Christensen
