Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i had a TURP operation in 2010 when i was 60 yrs.old. every six months i go for my check up for my uroflow test they had noticed that my urine flow is low below 5, indicates a bladder outlet obstruction, now i am 65 yrs old. The Doctor had suggested for a scope test, on test they found that the passage of the bladder is narrow, and immediately carry out a Bladder Neck incision ( BNI ) and had fixed a catheter for the urine flow. the surgeon had said that, later when you remove the catheter you have to use CISC method for a better urine flow. Also he says that after the TURP operation the prostrate had grown. Do i really need to use a catheter for my urine flow after the removal of my catheter, as i wll be removing it tomorrow. Thank you Rama
Yes in case of critical obstruction you may need self-catheterization to empty the bladder.
You may need self-catheterization or may not. It depends upon the severity of stenosis and severity of prostatomegaly. Use a tablet. Uribid 0.4 mg twice a day for five days.
If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
