General & Family Physician, Dr. Ina Zaimi's Response
Hello,
Thank you for your question and welcome to Healthcare Magic. I read your query and I understand your concern.
Regarding your question if your daughter hat to take 5 doses of injections of Rabipur, I would like to say that probably not. Rabies is uncommon in cats, it is more common in wild animals. If the cat that bit your daughter appeared to be healthy at the time of the bite, it's unlikely that the animal had rabies. However, it's a good idea to take some precautions. The cat has to be quarantined and observed for 10 days to make sure it doesn't start showing signs of rabies. If after 10 days the cat doesn't show any symptom your daughter can discontinue the injection shots.
Hope I helped with my answer. For further concerns don't hesitate to ask again, I will be pleased to answer you.
Take Care, Dr. Ina
