My 21 yo son showed me a bug bite (located on back of ankle) of some kind last night that seemed to have a blister on it, from his work boots, he thought. (There is a corresponding blister on other ankle.) It was swollen and pussy. He used a needle to let puss out - yellow and watery. He put hydrogen peroxide on it and left it uncovered until bedtime, when he put a bandaid on it loosely. He put a clean bandaid on it this morning then wrapped it with an ace bandage to protect from boot. Halfway through workday, he tells me he had sudden onset of pain at site of bite(s), and he d been getting dizzy and lightheaded for about an hour. The pain by this time was up past his knee, almost to mid-thigh. He unwrapped the bandage to take a look, and it looks fine but he noted that his foot was shaky, vibrating. Once wrap was removed, pain went away. No redness around, or extending from, site of bite(s). What should he do? What should he be aware of in order to decide to take off work to see a doctor?
