Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
A vein on the inside of my upper lip seems to have developed a blister like appearance which is accompanied by a hot and uncomfortable feeling. This phenomenon comes and goes with irregular frequency but the "Blister", though not always 'inflated', is always visible. Is it some form of minor aneurism, or is it nothing to worry about?
As per your complain and explanation of symptoms it seems that you have a Mucocele..
A mucocele is caused due to damage to the minor salivary glands present on the inner side of lips and any trauma to the glands or their ducts leads to the spillage of its contents into the soft tissues leading to formation of a small bump..
Many a times small mucocele heal without any treatment while in case of large mucoceles and chronic cases surgical removal has to be done..
For small mucoceles concentrated salt water rinses can help in regressing the bump..
Aneurysm is less common occurrence and it occurs in case of weakening of the wall of the blood vessel..
I would suggest you to consult a dentist and get evaluated and treatment will be planned accordingly..
Hope this information helps..
