Suggest Treatment For Blisters, Swelling And Burning In Face After Applying Dye
I have been using Just For Men facial dye for at least two years. This time my face broke out with blisters, swelling, constant burning and itching. Is there anything I can do other than going to a doctor that I cannot afford? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sid
You seem to have developed allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) to the allergens present in hair dye. ACD to hair dye presents as scalp itching, swelling, oozing involving the scalp and extending to the margins i.e the forehead, involving the pinna, the area in front and behind the ears and neck etc.
If I was the treating doctor I would have started you on oral steroids for a week. They bring about the most rapid relief. Along with oral steroids, topical steroid lotion can be used locally twice daily for a week or so.
A course of oral antibiotics may also be required if there is a secondary bacterial infection.
An OTC antihistamine e.g cetrizine once daily for symptomatic itch relief is advisable.
