Suggest Treatment For Bloated Feeling And Diarrhea When On Pantoprazole

I suffer from Gerd and Ibs and have been taking Pantoprazole for over 1 year. About 2/3 months ago my acid reflux symptons worsened and also had more wind, bloatedness and diarrhoea. Therefore my Gp changed my medication to emozul and my diarrhoea has continued and the wind, bloatedness. Is the ppi s causing the problem? I have a haemoglobin level of 11.5 and apparently it should be 12 to 16. Therefore I have been referred back to a gastroentrologist but appointment 2 weeks away. Can you advise should I stop taking the ppi s? Regards

Hello,

Yes, in chronic use of PPI one side effect are the yours. In my opinion if your condition of GERD is not so severe than you can stop it until your doctor appointment. Try to be careful with the food and liquids in this period.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
