Hello there. I have this weird problem with my ear. So sometimes I would wake up death in my left ear I have no clue why but I think nothing of it because I push my tragus against my ear and it unblocks, like there's air trapped inside. But this morning i have done what i normally do and pushed the tragus against my ear and can't get it unblock so I'm completely death in my left ear. please help me as this is getting me down I've been awake 30 mins nowAn example would be a plunger sucking up whatever is blocked in the toilet but the only problem is there is nothing blocked in my ear.
There is a connecting tract (known as Eustachian tube) between the nasopharynx & middle ear through which there is equalization of pressure. Any obstruction to this Eustachian tube, secondary to an upper respiratory tract infection, sinusitis, cold & congestion, can lead to loss of hearing, stuffiness/ blocking sensation by causing un-equalisation of pressure between the nasopharynx & middle ear.
Clinical examination is important for diagnosis, so I will advise you to consult your Doctor/ ENT specialist for a proper clinical examination. Certain investigations like PTA (Pure Tone Audiogram) and an Impedance Audiometry (Tympanometry) should be done after examination of your ear drum to detect any pathological cause for your symptoms.
There is no need to worry, you will be fine. Wishing you good health. Take care.
