Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had small to large blood blisters on my right elbow since late last July 2015 and it started out as a small rash on the point of my elbow in June 2015 and the rash then was sort of scaly burning and itchy. Doc had me use steroid cream and rash sort of disappeared but light reddish dry area persist and then the blood blisters started forming with no itch or pain just mild irritation now and then. The blood blisters since late July appear and disappear up to present and rotate around irritated looking area that is only occasionally bothersome. The blood blisters are small dime size to half dollar size. Last 2 days none and as last night but this am. they are back two to three blisters in a different area of elbow than last. The only way I knew was I must have lightly bumped or brushed elbow without knowing because my elbow suddenly felt wet , I was bleeding from one. My Doc. sent me to a dermatologist and from there to a elbow and joint specialist and he said to go back to dermatologist. This has been going on for 8 months. I have bad arthritis knees elbow spurs and spine is bad but the rest of my health is tip top they say. The specialist said it did not have anything to do with bursitis which I have had problems also with for years.
It is difficult for me to comment without looking at your blister. It could be due to number of reasons like eczema, dermatitis herpitiformis, psoriasis and gout. I suggest you to visit your local doctor again to look for its cause and some other tests for the above mentioned ailments.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
