Suggest Treatment For Blood In Stool Due To Fissure In Colon

Hi, My son is 15 this coming Tuesday and he has had a cough for about 3 weeks. it is not constant, however he has also had blood in his stool periodically. Two days ago he got ring worm on his left arm between his bicep and elbow area. I am baffled with these symptoms and his doctor has told me, the cough was due to an allergy, and his blood in stool was due from a fisher in his colen area.. my 15 year old has had no fever but is sleeping alot the past few days.My sons symptoms do not seem to be disappearing. Is there something else we should be looking for.?

Hello,

Three conditions are stated here cough, ringworm, blood stained stool and these are not related with each other, cough could be allergic one and most of the time may not need any treatment but goes away on its own.

If the symptoms persist for days, then it demands the investigation to ruled out the infection or systemic disease, blood stain stool could due to diet and may not blood itself unless it is being confirmed.

Fissures in this age are not less likely, constipation some time causes the bleeding per rectum, for ringworm anti-fungal local application will help like Miconazole cream, (Symptoms of cough more than couple of week need to be taken for investigation like x-Ray chest, and blood work).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Husain
