Suggest Treatment For Blood In Urine And Pain When Diagnosed With Kidney Stones

I had stones removed a few years ago from one kidney but I had stones in both and never went back to do the other side. I have had blood in my urine off and on for a few years. Now I am bloated and have pain in my back and side. How freaked out should I be?

Greetings.
Welcome to HealthCare magic.
Kidney stones as you may know is very common and almost 80% of stones pass off without any intervention.

As far as stones in your case is concerned , you seem to have a tendency of developing stones regularly which eventually leads to larger stones which do not pass easily. So now the stone in the other kidney must be large enough to not allow easy passage.

The bleeding you are witnessing is due to slight injury the stones cause occasionally as it moves under the pressure of urine. So don't have to worry about that much.

But one significant problem that arises due to long term kidney stones is blockage of urine flow which causes reverse pressure on the kidney. This problem is called as hydronephrosis . Therefore it is very important that you visit you physician who will order an ultra sound in order to check for hydronephrosis. Recurrent stones also may cause urinary tract infection which if severe enough would require antibiotics.

I hope the answer was helpful . In case you need any further assistance then feel free to contact us in writing .
