Suggest Treatment For Blood In Urine Despite Taking Nitrofurantoin
I am a 75 year old male taking nitrofurantoin monomono/mac 100mg for a uti, and metronidazole 500 mg to prevent c-diff. On my second dose no fever or any discomfort other than a recent bloody discharge in my urine and a burning in my penis. Should I have any concerns at this point? Jack

It's used to treat urinary tract infections (UTIs), including cystitis and kidney infections. When you take nitrofurantoin, your body quickly filters it out of your blood and into your pee.
But it means nitrofurantoin won't work for any other types of infection. Nitrofurantoin is available on prescription.
