Hi, my mother had a hysterectomy 2 years back. However, she has been having a bloody urine for the past 2 days, with no pain at all. She travelled to the US after a long time. Is there a chance that a change in the environment could lead to biological issues?
Hello Thanks for query. The hematuria (Passing blood in urine )at the age of after 60 years needs to be evaluated thoroughly .
It is not related to he travelling for long distance
Please consult qualified Urologist for clinical examination and get following basic tests done to help to establish the cause and source of bleeding . 1) Urine routine and Urine culture 2) Ultrasound Scanning of abdomen and pelvis 3) Blood coagulation profile 4) Endoscopic examination of Bladder (Cystoscopy).
Till then she can be given antibiotics like Cefixime and Nitrofurantoin twice daily orally. Ensure she drinks more water to help to dilute her urine. This will also help to reduce hematuria.
Further treatment will depend upon the results of these tests and final diagnosis as regards cause of her hematuria.
