Suggest Treatment For Blurred Vision, Hand Tremors And Fatigue In An Elderly Person

My father is 80 yrs old and has been taking Coumadin for 15 yrs. He seems like lately he is becoming very lethargic, hand shaking, blurred vision and absolutely no strength. Can this be from taking the Coumadin and can he stop taking the Coumadin and take 500mg aspirin instead? This is the only medicine that he takes. He has A fibulation, I believe that is what it is called. His heart skips beats.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

After having gone through the given history I am of the opinion that your father seems to be suffering multiple sclerosis. It is a neurological disorder that affect the brain, spinal cord, and the optic nerves in the eyes.

The blood thinner Coumadin is unlikely to cause his problem. I advise you to consult a neurologist for his proper clinical evaluation and treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
