Suggest Treatment For Bouts Of Cough With Thick Phlegm
Intense thickly cough 2 nights sitting in chair,today spent in a m u but no advice from dr told it could last weeks. We despair need help she's recently had hysterectomy for ovarian cancer, so you can guess how she feels she coughs every few minutes her head feels as if it wil burst

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of bouts of cough with thick phlegm . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to many reasons , but in your case in seems to me that the symptoms are due to untreated upper respiratory tract infection , chest infection or post nasal drip due to sinusitis . The symptoms can also occur in person having smoking habit . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination. Doctor may order certain test like throat swab test , viral culture test, CT scan and X-ray of upper respiratory tract . Doctor may prescribe antibiotic amoxicillin or penicillin at least along with decongestant , expectorant and anti histamine . Doctor may also refer you to chest specialist for chest infection .For now do warm saline gargles and take steam twice a day .
