My 15 year old daughter has had 2 severe bouts of tonsilitis recently -april and june lasting 4 weeks - tonsils became so large that impede her breathing uniformly while sleeping, thus mouth breathing, has light interrupted sleeps, trouble talking, swallowing food extremely difficult, swollen lymph nodes, and difficult to clear food particles from encased tonsils.Had negative strep swab. Her energy for her daily workout routine has been depleted. She is trying daily to catch up on her sleep. Her tonsils are normally very large. We have one ENT in our city who does not believe in removal of tonsils and rarely operates and one ENT in a nearby community who does operate regularily. Should I request a referral to the latter ENT to give an opinion on tonsil size obstruction and perhaps removal. My GP is stalling and my daughter wishing another opinion.
