Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 75 years old, have had 4 children before age 29. I now have incontinence issues. Lately I have had bowel movements w/o noticing that it has happened while doing pilates and other core exercises. What can I do to control this? I will ask my PCP when I see her in Feb. Did not realize I would be billed.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you are having symptoms of bowel incontinence that is making you uncomfortable. It could be due to irritable bowel syndrome, eating a lot of dairy products, some medications like antidepressants, acidity and due to lack of fibres in diet. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist for proper examination. Doctor may order colonoscopy or other tests to look for blockages in your colon , barium studies and blood test for hormonal changes. Doctor may prescribe osmotic laxatives , stool softeners and medicine to reduce acidity. For now drink lot of water , do light exercises and avoid fatty and heavy meals. You should avoid intake of outside food.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
