Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I broke my leg 8 weeks ago. I broke the bottom off of both bones at the ankle. I had surgery that day and had screws put in. As of a week ago I can put weight on it lightly using my walker. If it is down for very long it gets kinda red and today with church and going out to eat when I got home and got the boot off it was pretty red and swollen some but it didn t last too long after I got it up. Just wondering if the redness and swelling was normal.
Welcome at HCM I have gone through your query and being your physician I completely understand your health concerns..... Which type of shoes you are wearing? Is there any history of tick bite or trauma? Is there consistent pain? Any boil on the affected foot? In context of your history it could be either infection like cellulitis or bursitis but it need to be examined by orthopedic surgeon. If it is red and you are feeling like pressure from inside then meet your doctor immediately... It could be due to compartment syndrome. So meet your doctor for definitive diagnosis ... Meanwhile stay calm and use acetaminophen to relieve pain. Avoid too much movement at affected foot. Get well soon Regards Dr saad Sultan
