my name is philip ochs i got into into a bad car accident and broke my femur in my my right leg so they put a titanium rod in and i have a connection and pins at the top of my hip and pins go into my knee and the rod is loose in my leg my knee floats around and my question is and i m in constant pain could this cause futher damage like this and why would they leave the rod loose?
Hi Philip, Welcome to HCM. It is unfortunate to note that you have met with accident. What treatment they have done by putting rod and fixing the bone is right. There will be some amount of pain which you need to bear till the bone sets in. Later on, depending on the fusion and setting of your bones, the Orthopedician will assess and tell weather it could be removed or should be left alone. Kindly attend the follow up check ups regularly. Physiotherapy will help you to get better strength. Take care not to beat weight on bone and prevent it from further trauma. Wishing you the best outcome.
