Suggest Treatment For Bronchitis Causing Severe Cough
I have bronchitis. I have not slept for 4 days because my cough gets worst when I lay down. My doctor will not give me antibiotics because he says it is not an infection because I don t have a fever and sometimes my temperature is even below normal. I can t go on coughing my lungs out. Please help
Hello dear user! Welcome and thank you for asking us on HCM!
I understand your concerns I would like to help you giving advises as below: Bronchitis is not always associated by high temperature. If you have a lot of sputum which comes out with the cough, especially if the sputum is not clear or white and you are a smoker, you have to treat it with antibiotics and expectorants.
I would recommend Azithromycin once a day for 3 days and bromhexine three dimes daily orally.
If you have dry cough, (without sputum), something else may be the cause of severe cough and not bronchitis. In this case you must need a X-ray or CT-scan of your chest to gather more information about your lungs.
Take care and I hope you will be fine soon. All the best! DR ERIOL.
