Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
One week ago I was diagnosed with bronchitis. My peak flow was 340 at 30 years old and 5 7 . I am also 20 weeks pregnant. Today I presented with right flank pain when I cough and sneeze. The pain is an 8/10 when I cough or sneeze and subsides down to a 0-1/10. Is the pain something I should be concerned about?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of bronchitis during pregnancy, it seems to be due to respiratory tract infection. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to start with antibiotics to clear it up completely. You should start with azithromycin or a penicillin-based antibiotic because these are safe during pregnancy. You should visit general physician once and get complete examination done and start treatment after proper prescription. You can even have a chest x-ray safely in pregnancy if there is any doubt of your diagnosis. Avoid cold beverages and sharp spicy food.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
