Hello. Thank you for writing to us
I suggest a possibility of fungal infection/ tinea. Itching is a feature of fungal infections.
Tinea classically involves body folds like groins, axilla, sub mammary folds.
The anatomy of the folds is such that they trap moisture and warmth and thus are conducive for fungal growth specially in hot and humid weather in summers.
This can be confirmed by making a KOH wet preparation from a small amount of scale scrapped from the edges of spots and looking under the microscope for fungal elements i.e hyphae.
Treatment of a confirmed fungal infection is with one of the topical antifungals like
clotrimazole,
terbinafine, bifonazole etc
Oral antifungals like
fluconazole , terbinafine , may also be started if the infection is extensive and for faster relief.
I suggest that you visit a
dermatologist for a confirmatory diagnosis as well as for the needful.
An OTC oral antihistamine e.g
cetrizine 10 mg once daily will provide you symptomatic relief from itching.
