Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a spider bite red in color.. There is a bruise above the bite. Could this be from a wolf spider? I ve currently killed a few in the bathroom and there was a lighter almost translucent one in the bedroom the other day. Is this something to be concerned about??
Spider bite usually not venomous enough to kill a human. Maximum toxic effect for the spider bite are the local skin swelling, redness, itching, pain and finally difficulty in breathing, if there is acute allergic exacerbation to the toxin.
Management of the spider bite involves washing the wound with soap and water, antibiotic cream application, oral anti-histamines, and analgesics for pain relief. Visit the emergency room, if there is progressive increase in the allergic reaction such swelling and facial puffiness, difficulty in breathing.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pradeepraj, General & Family Physician
