Suggest Treatment For Bruise On Finger After A Fall
I fell on some ice in the driveway. My hand broke the fall and I have a large bruise between my thumb and first finger. The back of my hand is swollen (edema?) - - but, I can move all fingers and thumb - without pain, just some stiffness. I have been taking alive and icing the area. Should I see a doctor? Thank you, YYYY@YYYY
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns.
As per your complain it seems that due to traumatic injury to the hand there has been rupture to small blood vessels leading to accumulation of blood into soft tissues and due to it there is a bruise formation.. Swelling or edema seems to be due to accumulation of inflammatory fluid secondary to trauma and inflammation of the the soft tissues.. As you can more your fingers and hand without any pain and difficulty you need not to worry as there does not seems any bony fracture.. I would suggest you to continue taking Aleve and along with it continue icing the swollen area.. You can also apply Heparin gel over bruise for faster fading of bruise.. You can also apply analgesic gel in case of pain.. In case if it does not resolve or show improvement in a week consult an Orthopedician and get evaluated..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
