Suggest Treatment For Bruised Finger Caused Due To Broken Blood Vessel

Hi, I have been experiencing an apparent broken blood vessel in the top portion of my left middle finger. It seems like just a slight contact with something triggers it and it has happened three times in the past week. After it happens, my finger swells tremendously (double it s size), but it subsides at the end of the day. This is followed by very bad bruising where my finger turns various shades of purple, grey, etc. Within three to four days, everything is normal. The concern is the frequency in which it s happening. This has happened with various toes, etc., but usually happens a couple of times a year or so. How should I approach this? Thank you very much, Stacey

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Bruising occurs due to injury to blood vessels.
Recurrent bruising suggests that blood vessels are getting injured frequently.
The cause for recurrent bruising and thus recurrent injury to blood vessels needs to be known.
There could be some abnormality of the blood vessels or some disorder of clotting factors which could lead to recurrent bleeding.
Abnormality in structure of blood vessels can lead to recurrent bleeding on slight trauma.
Abnormalities of clotting factors can lead to recurrent bleeding.
I suggest you to consult a hematologist for clinical assessment and relevant investigations to know the cause of bleeding - blood vessel disorder or disorder of clotting factors.
Investigations like platelet count, bleeding time, clotting time, PT, aPTT and thrombin time may be required to determine the cause of bleeding.

Thanks and take care
