Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Went to doc with what I thought was bruised rib. Felt a pop. Not stabbing pain but dull ache behind left breast. Chest xray. Call back said emphysema. Had spirometer test tester seemed surprised with emphysema diagnosis. Said it seemed I had more problems inhaling than exhaling (rib, anxiety?). Waiting for callback from those tests. In meantime dull pain or sort of full feeling spreading across chest and down center between breasts prior to first doc appt some shortness of breath. Right now just not feeling well help
Thankyou for the Question I have gone thoroughly your history but there are some missing points needs to be asked? For example,Bruise actualy appeared gradualy or suddenly,is it associated with fever or cough? or muscle pain or rib fracture or pain in other parts(bones) of body. You also did not mention X-ray report in detail. Because rib cage pain ,and emphysema can be because of many factors and also inter related..As you have got radiating pain also so you may need some invasive investigations e.g CT chest or bone scan to rule out the cause first, and discuss further with your doctor. Before knowing the cause of pain you can not be treated properly...
