Hello,
When it comes to treating hematomas, we should first determine what is causing them. In this patient's case, she is 77 years old, falling history, INR 2.5,
warfarin adjusted control level.
So, at her age, warfarin is a blood thinner and is increasing chances for hematoma. The fall from weakened legs resulted to more hematomas.
Treatment is as following:
- adjusting the dosage of warfarin
- applying
cold compresses for the first couple of days then, alternating warm and cold compresses
- apply
heparin gel to disperse the clotted blood.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
